Seit 20 Jahren produzieren Eva Hertzsch & Adam Page langfristige künstlerische Projekte am Stadtrand. Seit 5 Jahren gestalten und nutzen sie mit Anwohner_innen und Geflüchteten eine Brachfläche in Berlin-Hellersdorf als Cricket – Platz.

Eva Hertzsch & Adam Page have been producing long-term art projects in city peripheries for over 20 years. Five years ago they transformed a wasteland into an informal recreation ground on the Berlin-Hellersdorf estate and have since been organising cricket there with refugees and residents .

Anlässlich von „Vor dem Abriss“ starten sie mit dem Hellersdorfer Sportverein AC Berlin eine Kampagne für mehr Sichtbarkeit des Cricketsports in Berlin. Cricket ist zur Zeit der am schnellsten wachsende Sport in Deutschland. Geflüchtete aus Afghanistan und Pakistan sorgen für einen großen Zuwachs an Spielern. In Berlin spielen ca. 1.000 Menschen Cricket in Vereinen und informell auf Grünflächen. Heimspiele in der Regionalliga werden auf dem Maifeld hinter dem Olympiastadion und in Werder (Havel) gespielt. Die Cricket-Szene sucht seit Jahren mehr Öffentlichkeit in der Hauptstadt und einen zentralen Ort. Mit einem Modell und der Kampagne möchten Page & Hertzsch eine Diskussion über die Zukunft von Cricket und dessen wachsende Community anstoßen.

On the occasion of „Before the demolition“ , they are launching a campaign with a Hellersdorf sports club to give cricket in Berlin more visibility. Cricket is currently the fastest growing sport in Germany. Refugees from Afghanistan and Pakistan have driven a large increase in the number of players. The Hellersdorfer sports club ›AC Berlin‹ founded a cricket department in 2017 and now plays in the Regionalliga Ost. There are more than 300 cricket departments throughout Germany. Around 1,000 people play cricket in clubs and on informal green spaces. Home games in the regional league are played on Maifeld  behind the Olympic Stadium and in Werder, an hour away from Berlin. The cricket community has been looking for more visibilty and a central location in the capital city for years. With a model and the campaign, they will initiate a discussion about the future of cricket and its growing community in Germany’s capital city.
